Dear Students,
Tomorrow we will be going to Jarrett Middle School in the morning for an orientation. Please wear your Hokulani T-shirts (or blue shirt) and covered shoes. Also, bring a home lunch if you do not plan on purchasing lunch. These are today's assignments:
I. Language Arts
a. Read 30 minutes and record pages read.
b. The Kid Who Became President: read prologue, Chapters 1 & 2. Complete reading questions. For question #4, you can use the internet to search for the information such as cnn.com or this website http://projects.nytimes.com/44th_president/new_team?WT.srch=1&WT.mc_ev=click&WT.mc_id=PO-S-E-GG-NA-S-obama_chief_of_staff to find out the names of President Obama's Chief of Staff and Secretary of State. Completed questions due tomorrow.
c. Writing: write 2 middle paragraphs for your story. It should focus on 2 events that occurred in the story.
d. Kid Biz: read Dr. King Remembered and Presidential Inaguration news articles. Complete 5 steps for Dr. King Remembered article and thought and poll for Presidential Inaguration. Record scores in folder and on class poster.
II. Other
a. Field trip tomorrow. Wear Hokulani or blue T-shirt and covered shoes. Joseph, Christian and Tyler remember to bring home lunch.

Click on the website address on my blog. It will take you to the page that lists the different positions that President Obama filled. Look for the job titles and write the names of the people he selected. For Secretary of State it is listed under "State."
