Homework Assignments

Dear Students,
Study for tomorrow's Japanese Quiz #4 and complete worksheet. For writing, you will be researching all of the candidates running for Governor. Today, you focus on gubernatorial candidate Neil Abercrombie. Use your 2-column note taking sheets and include the name of the website source(s) that you used. At the bottom of the page, write a summary of the important things you learned about the candidate.

These are your assignments:

I. Language Arts
a. Reading record: read 30 minutes and record pages read. Next week you will be completing pages in your Literature Sharing folder for your Science Fiction book.

b. Kid Biz: read 2 news articles and complete 5 steps. Record information for entries #12 and #13 on your Kid Biz sheet.

c. Wordly Wise: complete 7A & 7B in workbook. Write and describe words for #1-7. Due tomorrow.

d. Reading: complete Chapter 9 questions #1-2. Due tomorrow.

e. Writing: conduct background research on gubernatorial candidate Neil Abercrombie. Click on the links listed under "Candidates for Governor" (the right side on my blog page). On the "US Elections" website, click on the name of the candidate you are researching. It will take you to the official website. On "Neil Abercrombie's" website, press the "About" and "Issues" drop down menu to find out specific information.

Write information about Mr. Abercrombie's background (experience) and his viewpoints on important issues that you are interested in such as the economy (creating jobs), education, housing and human services (homeless), alternative energy, etc.

II. Math
a. Mrs. D.C.: 1) on folder paper, make corrections to WB pg. 12 and 10-Step "Best Buy" problem. 2) complete reteach handout -- estimate and solve original problems. For #7-8, write problem and show all work.

b. Mrs. K: No homework.

III. Other
a. Social Studies: create note cards and work on memorizing your parts. Continue to work on oral presentation. Presentations begin next week Tuesday.

b. DARE: pg. 18 situation #1, pg. 30 Planner Notes #5. Due Friday.

c. Japanese: study for tomorrow's Quiz #4 on color chart #11-20 (meaning only). Finish Japanese Counting worksheet. Due tomorrow.

For writing what do we have to write for ( the Standard\Benchmark Number ) and the ( Statement )for the canidates for goverment .

Hi Emele!
For the Standard/Benchmark you can write Government. The "Statement" portion you can leave blank.

Dear ?,
No you do not have to fill up the entire sheet. You should, however, have information on his experience in government (what kind of jobs did he have?). You should also have information on what his view point are on several problems Hawaii is facing such as the economy (creating more jobs), homeless, education, etc.

For science fictions book, I had a book then I just found out it was a fantasy. I have been looking for a book, but I cannot find one. Is the library open tomorrow?
