Dear Students,
Tomorrow is Earth Day so please wear a green colored t-shirt. Also, we will be having P.E. tomorrow so wear covered shoes. These are your assignments for today:
I. Language Arts
a. Reading Record: read for 30 minutes and record pages read.
b. Kid Biz: read 3 news articles, record title and first score.
II. Math
a. Mrs. D.C.: a) Make corrections to TB pg. 565-566. b) Design your pool and color. Calculate on folder paper the area of the pool and the tiled area. Tomorrow, you will be calculating the perimeter.
b. Mrs. K: finish correcting pool design.
III. Other
a. Bring your Thriller shirt to school tomorrow.

how do you calculate the area and where are the tiles.

Hi Brendan!
For the pool, count up all of the full squares, half-squares and almost full squares. Add them up all together. For the tile area, count up all of the tiles that are outside of the pool area. You need to show how many full squares, half squares and almost full squares there are. Then, add them up all together. Show all of your work on folder paper.
