Dear Students,
I hope you enjoyed your day skating at Ice Palace. :) Just wanted to take the time to thank you for an incredible year. I am really glad that you were in my class. I have watched you grow :) and sometimes stumble :( over these past 10 months. Just like your parents, I am especially proud of the person you have become.
I wish you the very best in all that you choose to do. All of you have special talents. Over the next couple of years, figure out what they are. Find out what you are passionate about. Then, use those talents and make a difference in this world.
You can make a positive impact and lasting impression. We are all running in this race called life. Don't stop until you reach the finish line. Sometimes you will experience an ocassional "bump" in the road. Remember to stay in your car and keep on going. If you always get out of your car to analyze and look at every bump (problem/challenges) you come across, you will never reach your destination. The journey is the best part. Learn to grow and overcome obstacles by focusing on the solution and not the problem.
Remember -- be an active participant and not a spectator in life. Your parents and I believe in you. Make your all of your dreams come true!
All my love and support,
Mrs. Dela Cruz :)
P.S. For Monday, please bring to school your communication folder (if you did not turn it in), your yearbook, and a pen or pencil (for signing yearbooks).
Huey: could you please make an introduction page for the Memory book?
a) You can start with, "Well, if you are reading this book, I guess it is now 25 years in the future . . . 2034!
b) Share some of the historic events that have occurred this year:
-- Election of the first African American President who happens to be from Hawaii.
--Changes in our economy: rise in gas prices, loss of jobs, etc.
--Share brief highlights of what has been happening at Hokulani -- focus on recycling (worm bin), change in our recess schedule (recess before lunch), May Overnighter excursion, Aloha Assembly, and new Principal Carganilla, etc.
--Briefly explain what the fifth graders students wrote about in their All About the Author. Focus on their prediction --what they would be doing in the future.
--End with something like, "We hope you will enjoy reading their stories. It will be interesting to find out how many of the students' predictions about their future came true." :)

Hi Tyler!
Yes, you can bring your money in on Monday. I believe it costs $10.00.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Dela Cruz :)
Tyler,
Could you bring your Bare Book to school on Monday? I would like to make a copy of your All About the Author so we can include it in our class memory book that will be placed in the time capsule.
Thank you!
Mrs. Dela Cruz
Dear Mrs Dela Cruz,
Will we have any lessons on Monday, is there any books I need to bring? Also, do we need to bring our school bags?
Thank you!
Nicole
Hi Nicole!
Thank you for your question. Were you able to finish drawing and coloring the cover for the Memory book for the Time Capsule? The title should read something like "A Little Bit of This, A Little Bit of That and A Whole Lot of Us" (Bubble letters)
On the bottom, it should have words that say Hokulani Elementary School, Class of 2009, Mrs. Dela Cruz's class. (Regular writing)
If possible, could you please draw some pictures that highlights favorite activities you did from grades 2-5? (Ex. Big Island, Market Day, May overnighter, DARE Day, etc.)
I am putting together the memory book today. I will show it to the class tomorrow. I'm really excited about it!
For tomorrow, all you have to do is bring your communication folder (if you did not turn it in yet), your yearbook and a pen or pencil (for signing yearbooks). I will be giving you time in the morning to sign each other's yearbooks. I will also show a pixtar "short clips" video. :)
See you tomorrow!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Dela Cruz :)
