I was really proud of the students who presented their student council speeches today. You did an excellent job in sharing what your qualifications were and the reasons why you wanted to represent our classroom. All of you are w-i-n-n-e-r-s because of your willingness to help and serve others. If you were not selected today, there will be many other opportunities for you to help in our classroom and in our school community. :)
If you received feedback from me for your "All About Me" stories, your revisions will be due this Thursday. For those of you who haven't received my feedback, your revisions will be due on Friday. I will be giving you time on Thursday and Friday to type your final story. Final typed story will be due next week Tuesday.

S-t-u-d-y for tomorrow's Wordly Wise Lesson 1 Exam. Your test will be on spelling and vocabulary. For the spelling test, I will be telling you the definition, you will be writing the word. Please review the lessons you completed this week.
For those students who turned in their JPO permission forms, Mr. Ishihara will have JPO training after your early lunch. You will leave for lunch at 11:40 a.m.
Tomorrow, we will be having a gallery walk during Social Studies. You will have a chance to see everyone's drawings. We will also have P.E. in the afternoon. :)

Beginning tomorrow, the kindergarten students will need help walking to their classrooms. If you are able to help us, we will meet at 7:30 a.m. in the drop off area (parking lot) this week and next week. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. :)

Homework Assignments
Dear Students,
I am looking forward to seeing your S-E-E responses for the Little Mole story. I will give you additional time to finish and practice for your presentations. Remember, make it f-a-b-u-l-o-u-s! Also, remember to show your parents your communication folder, it has your Hawaii Assessment results in Reading, Math and Science.
For those students who logged onto Kid Biz, I will be checking on the status of the level set tests. Meanwhile, you can read and complete the 5 steps for 1-2 of the stories featured this week. Please write down your first score and title of the article in your student planner. Tomorrow, I will pass out the Kid Biz sheets for you to write down your first score and information. These are your assignments:
I. Language Arts
a. Reading record: read for 30 minutes and record pages read. I will be collecting your records tomorrow and you will be receiving either a 100% or star stamp on the homework folder. :)
b. The Little Mole Activity #1 handout: complete Part II of the handout by underlining your response. You can make revisions and additions to your response. Make sure your picture is colored. I will be collecting the handout tomorrow after your group finishes your poster.
II. Math

III. Other
a. Finish typing Organizational Binder.
b. Show parents communication folder. Due by or before Monday.
c. Parent Survey: have parents complete and return by Monday -- Jenna and Mara.

I hope you enjoyed learning about Mr. Hoppy and Alfie today in math. I look forward to seeing your S-E-E responses for the Little Mole story. Also, don't forget that we will be having P.E. tomorrow so wear covered shoes. These are your assignments:
I. Language Arts
a. Reading record: read 30 minutes and record pages read.
b. Reading: Complete Part I of Little Mole Activity #1 handout. Write your answer using the S-E-E format on the second page. Draw 2 colored pictures for each of the examples given as evidence your S-E-E response on the back of your handout. Due tomorrow!
c. Kid Biz: if you have a computer at home, take the Level Set test (first test) when you go on Kid Biz. Please finish test by next week Monday.

1) How many trips would Mr. Hoppy make if he carries 10 tortoises at a time? 15 tortoises at a time? Show all calculations, circle your answer and write your answer in a complete sentence.

Thank you for working hard today on your math assessment test. You did a fantastic job introducing your parnter today. :) Tomorrow, we will be having math in the morning and reading in the middle block. Please make sure you complete the following assignments:

a. Reading record: read for 30 minutes and record pages read.
b. Literature Sharing folder: complete reading survey on pages 1 and 2. On page 14, for "Title 1", write the title of the book (you are reading), author and total pages of the book. (Due tomorrow)
II. Other
a. Communication folder and parent forms: have parents sign "Statement of Care" (yellow form you filled out today), Emergency card, Field Trip form (blue), MVA Questionnaire (orange) and Video Release form.

Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed your first day at school. Get ready for an exciting and fun-filled year. :)
I will be posting your daily assignments on this weblog page. If you have a question, click on the words "comments" and type your message. Don't forget to write Dear Mrs. Dela Cruz (in the beginning of your message) and end with your name. I will review all messages before I post them on the blog. So, if you don't see your message after you have pressed the "post comment" button, don't worry. It will show up on my blog after I have answered your question at 7:30 p.m.
