Dear Students,

I. Language Arts
a. Reading 30 minutes and record pages read. Total pages read for the week. Get week #3 signed.
b. Literature Sharing: read aloud to parents your favorite part from one of the Mystery books you read. Have a parent write their comments on the bottom of page 22.
c. The Kid Who Ran for President: review for Monday's test on Chapters 25-26. I will be collecting the book after the exam.
d. Project Runway Mask: write an exciting speech about your mask. (It will be read when you model the mask). The write up should include the name of the mask, description of mask (use descriptive words) and when/how it can be used (when can you use it or wear it?). Create a price for the mask. Fashion show begins next week!

II. Math
a. Mrs. D.C.: complete ratio handout on fourths. Color all rods on the previous handouts.
b. Mrs. K: no homework!

III. Other
a. Show parents communication folder.
b. Japanese: complete handout and study for next week's exam.
c. Cultural Exchange students: study for Monday's exam on Colonial Economies and reading exam. You need to memorize the different colonies in New England, Middle and Southern Colonies. You can use the notes on the grid for only the essay portion of the test.

c. DARE Essay: read over teacher’s comments and make revisions. Type story in final form. Finish creating and coloring DARE picture. (Due this Thursday)

a. Complete ratio handout. Make sure you color the diagram of the different rods in question #1.

III. Organizational Binder
a. GLO and Grade assessment sheet (yellow) paper. Complete assessment. Put a checkmark next to the area that describes you – consistently, usually, sometimes or rarely. For evidence, explain why you gave yourself that grade. On the last page, write down the letter grade you feel you deserved for all subject areas based upon you effort. (Due tomorrow)

IV. Japanese
a. Finish worksheet on bath tubs. Study for tomorrow's exam.

a. Read 30 minutes and record pages read.
b. DARE Essay: read over teacher's comments and make revisions (if you received it back today). Make revisions and begin typing final story. Draw colored picture that shows what your essay is about. (Final typed story due this week Thursday)
c. Writing: complete self-assessment and tab the evidence. Due tomorrow.
d. The Kid Who Ran for President: study for tomorrow's exam on Chapters 21-24.

II. Math
a. Mrs. D.C.: in your composition book, answer this question: what is the fastest way to find out the total amount of pairs where 1 rod is 1/2 the size of the another?
b. Mrs. K: no homework.

a. Social Studies: Read Southern Colonies and complete notes on the grid. (Due tomorrow).
b. Japanese: complete handout on bathtubs. Study meanings for all 7 words. Study hiragana for all 7 words.

For those of you who left messages on my blog over the weekend, I just typed a reply to you today. Look at yesterday's blog page for my comments. I was having technical difficulties with my computer last night.
Please read over your DARE essay tonight. Tomorrow, you will peer assess and make revisions to your essay. Also, if you received your Social Studies exam today, please get your test folder signed. Let's have no pink slips tomorrow!

a. Reading record: read mystery book for 30 minutes and record pages read.
Start recorging the books you have read in your Literature Sharing folder.
b. Wordly Wise: complete page 66 (due tomorrow).
c. The Kid Who Ran for President: read Chapters 21 & 22 and complete reading questions.
d. DARE essay: make sure you have 5 paragraphs -- lead, 3 middle paragraphs and a conclusion with your DARE pledge at the end.

a. Mrs. Dela Cruz: workbook pg. complete problems #13-16. Show all work on folder paper and write the answers in the workbook page. Make corrections to problems #1-12 on folder paper.
b. Mrs. K: make corrections to 10-step.

a. Test Folder: get if you received your Social Studies exam today, please have parents sign your test folder tonight.
b. Japanese: complete "Everyday Activities" handout. Study the meanings. Also, know how to write hiragana for #1, 2, 4 & 6.
c. Book Orders: if you forgot to bring your order in today, turn it in tomorrow with the appropriate funds.
d. Pink slips: if you received one today, make sure you complete the work and get the pink slip signed.

I hope you had a relaxing Fall Recess. This is the first day of the Second Quarter. Work on improving the quality of your work and put 100% effort into your assignments. These are your assignments for today:

a. Read 30 minutes and record pages read.
b. Wordly Wise: complete 8A & 8b. Write and describe words #1-7.
c. The Kid Who Ran for President: complete reading questions for Chapters 17 & 18. Test on Chapters 17-20 on Friday.
d. DARE Essay: a) Complete the Part I Prewriting section. List all the main topics you learned from the DARE program. Put a start next to the 3 most important things you learned from DARE. b) If you have time tonight, you can begin conducting internet research on related incidents/problems that involved people in Hawaii.

II. Math
a. Mrs. D.C.: 1) On folder paper, make corrections to Division of Decimals test. Record test in test folder and get it signed. 2) Complete ratio handout #1-9.
b. Mrs. K: Finish make question on percentage.

III. Other
a. Japanese: complete worksheet on greetings. Study all colors (Romaji and meaning). Study for tomorrow's #8-17 hiragana test.
b. Pink slip or Incomplete RR/Hmk folder: please complete work and get pink slip signed.

Fall Recess Assignments

Dear Students,
Hurray! Fall Recess is finally here! Enjoy your time with your family and friends. These are your assignments during the break. I will be checking my blog only on the weekends during the break. You will be returning to school on Tuesday October 13th.

I. Language Arts
a. Reading record: read 30 minutes daily and record pages the read. On Sunday, total the amount of pages read for the week. In addition, add up all the weekly totals for the first quarter and write the grand total. Have parents sign pages read and homework folder for week #9.
Next week Monday, begin recording the pages read on the Second Quarter reading sheet (purple sheet). Total amount of pages read at the end of next week and have parents initial.

b. Tuesday story: everyone should have received my feedback. Work on your revisions during the break and type your story. The typed story is due Tuesday October 13.

c. Kid Biz: read 2 news articles and complete 5 steps. Record your scores on your Kid Biz paper.

II. Math
a. Mrs. Dela Cruz: textbook page 616-617 #3-7 all and #11-17 all.
b. Mrs. K: workbook page 52 #2-28 evens and page 58 all.

III. Other
a. Fire Safety Guide: complete pages during the break.
b. Japanese: complete homework and study for your test. Due on Wednesday October 14th.

Study, study and study for tomorrow's Social Studies exam. You won't be able to use any notes or textbook for the exam. These are your assignments for today:

I. Language Arts
a. Read mystery book for 30 minutes and record pages read. I will be giving you the reading record for 2nd quarter tomorrow. Record pages read and have parents sign it during the break.
b. Tuesday story:
1) If you received my comments, work on the revisions tonight. If you have not received my comments, I will be returning the remaining stories back tomorrow. Work on the revisions and type it out in final form during the break. It will be due the day you return from the fall break.
2) Colored picture for one of the story scenes due tomorrow.

II. Math
a. Mrs. Dela Cruz and Mrs. Kaneshiro: work on M&M and ratio assignments that were given today.

III. Social Studies
a. Study for tomorrow's exam.

IV. Other
a. Color Wheel: make sure it is completed and turned in tomorrow.
