Dear Students,
I can't wait to hear your completed All About Me stories. Tonight, please use the criteria sheet as a checklist and self-assess your story. You will not be able to complete all sections of the criteria but make sure your story has all of the necessary parts -- interesting lead, descriptive details about your family, hobbies and future goals. Did you include transitions? Make any necessary revisions.
Tomorrow, a classmate will be giving you feedback on your story. The feedback you receive will help you improve your writing. :) These are your assignments for today:
I. Language Arts
a. Reading record: read 30 minutes and record pages read.
b. Wordly Wise: review and study for tomorrow's spelling and vocabulary exam.
c. All About Me: Finish writing your last 2 paragraphs -- future goals (where you see yourself in 10 years) and the conclusion. Try to relate your conclusion to your lead.
d. Kid Biz: finish taking the "level set" exam (if you did not finish it today). Read the news article entitled "Get Moving" and complete 5 steps. Record results on your Kid Biz paper.
II. Math
a. Complete Anno's Magic Seeds handout.
III. Other
a. Show parents communication folder.
b. Entertainment book: turn in orders with funds or return the unsold book.
c. P.E. tomorrow! Wear covered shoes. :)

Dear Mrs.Delacruz,
For the All About Me assignment. To finish the last two paragraphs, did we have to write the lead all the way to the conclusion, or could we just do the last two paragraphs?
From,
Talia
Hi Ivy!
You don't have to fill in all of the criteria sheet. Just make sure your story has the necessary parts for each section. In the lead, does it capture the reader's attention? Did you put descriptive details in the paragraphs about your family, hobbies and future goals.
Use the criteria as a guide. Tomorrow, I will be a classmate give you feedback on your story.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Dela Cruz :)
Hi Megan!
Yes, this is still part of your first draft. The future goals (where you see yourself in 10 years) and the conclusion is the last 2 paragraphs in your story.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Dela Cruz :)
Hi Chika!
Review any mistakes you made in spelling the words that you wrote 5times each. Also, review the meaning of the vocabulary words. See which problems you got wrong.
Tomorrow, for the spelling test, I will only tell you the definition. You will need to spell the word. For the vocabulary test, it will be similar to the 4th Grade exam last year. You will need to know the definition of the words.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Dela Cruz :)
Hi Crystal!
The last page of your All About Me is the criteria sheet. Check to make sure you have written all parts of the story.
You will not be able to fill out the entire criteria. Use it as a checklist to make sure your story has the necessary parts.
Tomorrow, a classmate will assess your story and give you additional feedback.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Dela Cruz
Hi Talia!
You should have already written 3 paragraphs for your story -- the lead, a paragraph about your family, and hobbies. Tonight, you will finish the last 2 paragraphs on your future goals and the conclusion.
Tomorrow, one of your peers will be giving you feedback on your story. Look over the criteria sheet to make sure all parts are completed.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Dela Cruz :)
Kayce,
You need to make sure you pack up everything before you leave the classroom. See if one of your parents can sign the 3 pink slips in the morning before class begins.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Dela Cruz :)
