After you solve the Tropical Storm Felicia problem, watch the news tonight and see if your calculations were correct. These are your assignments for today:
I. Language Arts
a. Read 30 minutes and record pages read.
b. Wordly Wise: 1C & 1D. Write and describe words #8-15 in your composition book. Spelling and vocabulary test on Friday.
II. Math
a. Esio Trot: answer the following questions.
1. At the end of the story, how much did Alfie weight? Explain how you know this.
2. If Alfie is 30 years old, how much did he gain per year? Show your work with labels.
b. Tropical Storm Felicia question:
As of 8:00 a.m., Tropical storm Felicia was 450 miles east of Honolulu and is travelling at a speed of 14 mph. Show your work with labels to figure out what day/time Felicia will arrive at Honolulu.
1. Copy problem in your composition book.
2. Solve the problem and show your work with labels.
III. Social Studies
a. Read the rest of Chapter 1, Lesson 1 pages 6-9 and take notes in your composition book. Write the main ideas and include questions that you have as you read the text.
IV. Other
a. AVID: complete and color "A Successful Student" worksheet.
b. Self-Portrait: finish coloring your portrait. Due Wednesday.
c. Pink slips: if you received a slip, please complete work and have parents sign the slip tonight. Due tomorrow.
