Homework Assignments

Dear Students,
Thank you for working hard on your Social Studies presentations today! For Mrs. Kaneshiro's math class, you can use the ESPN website to find out the latest basketball scores. http://espn.go.com/

Have a fantastic Spring recess. See you on Monday April 6th. These are your assignments during the break:

I. Language Arts
a. Reading Record: Read 30 minutes and record pages read. Have parents initial weekly pages read for 2 weeks.
b. Literature Sharing folder: complete pages 34-36. Read aloud fantasy book to parents and have them complete bottom of page 36. Folder due on Monday April 6th.
c. Kid Biz: read 2 news articles per week (total of 4) and complete 5 steps. Record results in your Kid Biz sheet.

II. Math
a. Mrs. Dela Cruz: make corrections to Surface Area and Volume exam. Get test signed.
b. Mrs. Kaneshiro: page 658 #5-10 all and March madness worksheet. For the worksheet, you show the results up to the Final 2 teams. The final game will be played on Monday April 6th at 3:00 p.m.

III. Social Studies
a. Events Leading to Revolutionary War comic strip due Monday April 6th.

IV. Science
a. Plant research due Tuesday April 7th.

Homework Assignments

Dear Students,
One more day until S-P-R-I-N-G Recess! These are your assignments for today:

I. Language Arts
a. Reading Record & Literature Sharing: Read 3o minutes and record pages read. For the Literature sharing, complete pages 34-36. Read aloud to parents parts of your fantasy book and have parents complete bottom of page 36. Literature sharing folder due on Monday April 6th.
b. Kid Biz: read 1 news article and complete 5 steps. Record scores in your folder and class poster.

II. Math
a. Mrs. Dela Cruz: 1) make corrections to Review worksheet and Area retest (that you took on Wednesday). 2) Get test folder signed for Area retest that you received today. I will return the Surface Area and Volume test tomorrow.
b. Mrs. Kaneshiro: March madness -- mathematically choose your team and explain why on folder paper.

III. Science
a. Research due on Tuesday April 7th.

IV. Social Studies
a. Events Leading to Revolutionary War Comic Strip due Monday April 7th.

V. Other
a. Communication folder: show it to parents.

Dear Students,
Three more days until Spring recess! These are your assignments for today:

I. Language Arts
a. Reading Record/Literature sharing folder: read fantasy book for 30 minutes and record pages read. Complete Literature sharing pages 34-36. Share your book to your parents over the spring recess. Have them sign bottom of page 36. Due Monday April 6th.

II. Math
a. Mrs. Dela Cruz: 1) Make corrections to volume worksheet. 2) Complete Perimeter, Area and Volume worksheet (both sides) 3) Study for tomorrow's surface area and volume exam.

b. Mrs. Kaneshiro: finish What's the Point worksheet (use ruler) and study for tomorrow's quiz.

III. Japanese
a. Handouts due tomorrow.

IV. Social Studies
a. Final presentations tomorrow -- Continental Congress.

b. Comic Strip on the Events Leading to Revolutionary War: Due Monday April 6th.
1) Comic strip should include the following events. Put all events in chronological order (in the order it occurred) -- French and Indian War, Stamp Act, Townshend Act, Boston Massacre, Boston Tea Party (Tea Tax), Intolerable Acts.
2) Use descriptive details to answer comic strip questions -- When the event occurred?, Why it happened?, Who were the people involved? What happened?.
3) Create colored illustrations (pictures) with captions (words that describe what the picture shows) to show what happened during the event.

a. Mrs. Dela Cruz: 1. Make homework corrections to surface area worksheet. 2. Complete volume worksheet. 3. Study for tomorrow's area retest. 4. Return signed test folder with math Area test.
b. Mrs. Kaneshiro: Animal object -- measure and write on card & worksheet page 139 (both sides).

III. Other
a. Social Studies: presentations continue tomorrow.
b. Japanese handouts: school uniforms and worksheet #2 is due this Thursday.

I. Language Arts
a. Read 30 minutes and write pages read. Begin filling out Literature Sharing folder for the fantasy genre. You will be reading aloud to your parents during Spring recess.
b. Kid Biz: read 2 news articles and complete 5 steps. Record scores in your folder and in class poster.

II. Math
a. Mrs. Dela Cruz: 1. Complete surface area worksheet (both sides). Show all calculations and work. 2. Make corrections to Area test. 3. Get test folder signed. Retest on Wednesday.
b. Mrs. Kaneshiro: page 574 #5-10 (all), page 578 #14-19 (all) and Tangram assignment.

III. Social Studies
a. Oral presentations begin tomorrow -- Stamp Act, Townshend Duties and Boston Massacre. Please have your speaking parts memorized. Double check information on your research posters.

c. Reading: read "The Secret Garden" and complete questions. For #6 & #7, complete the questions using the S-E-E format.

a. Mrs. Dela Cruz: cut out 3 nets and label with your name. Complete both sides of worksheet pages RW142 and PW 142.
b. Mrs. Kaneshiro: homework due tomorrow.

a. Social Studies: prepare for your oral presentation. Oral presentations and research board due next week Tuesday.

a. Mrs. Dela Cruz: a) make corrections to last night's homework page 563 & 566. b) page 573 #1-13. For #1-13 find the area. Show all work.
b. Mrs. Kaneshiro: origami -- measure all the angles for each triangle and find the total amount of triangles and angle worksheet.

III. Social Studies
a. Type all information for research poster. Poster due Wednesday.

IV. Science
a. Put the final calculations and show how you arrived at your answer.

Just a reminder that fun run pledges are due tomorrow. Please continue to bring in prize donations for our Spring Fling. I will be at a meeting at school tonight so I will not be able to respond to your questions on the blog. These are your assignments for today:

a. Read 30 minutes and write pages down.
b. Wordly Wise #20E #1-7. Write words #1-7 5x each. Last test on Monday! :)
c. Kid Biz: read 1 newsarticle and complete 5 steps. (If you have time, you can respond to more news articles.)
d. Reading: read Polynesian voyagers story and complete questions. For #13, complete in SEE format. Also, write out your Ellison Onizuka question #10 using the SEE format on folder paper. I will collect and grade it tomorrow.

II. Math
a. Mrs. Dela Cruz: make corrections to your Perimeter and Circumference test and get test folder signed.
b. Mrs. Kaneshiro: finish 2 worksheets. You need to use your protractor.

a. Reading Record: begin reading a fantasy book and record pages read.
b. The Kid Who Became President: study for tomorrow's test on Chapters 25-27. I will be collecting the books tomorrow.
c. Library tomorrow. Bring library books to school.
d. Kid Biz: read 1 newsarticle and complete 5 steps. Record score in folder. (You may read more than 1 newsarticle for the Kid Biz contest. Record scores in you folder.)

II. Math
a. Mrs. Dela Cruz: 1) Make corrections to circumference homework worksheet pg. 135. 2) Complete calculations for today's radius, diameter and cirumference worksheet. 3) Study for tomorrow's perimeter and circumference exam.
b. Mrs. Kaneshiro: 1) Textbook page 436 #18-25 and page 440 #28-31. 2) Survey any topic 30 people, 5 choices. 3) Study for tomorrow's "soccer."
