Dear Students,
Please read aloud parts of your Realistic Fiction book this weekend with your parents. Have your parent fill out the comment section of your Literature Sharing folder (bottom of page 33). These are your assignments for the weekend:

a. Read 30 minutes and total pages read. Have parent sign week #7.

a. Read 30 minutes and write pages down. For your Literature Sharing folder, have pages 31-33 (top of page 33) completed by tomorrow. You will read aloud to your parents over the weekend.
b. The Kid Who Became President: read Chapters 25 & 26. Complete reading questions. Due tomorrow.
c. Wordly Wise: 19E #1-7. Write words 1-7 5x each. Test on Monday.

II. Math
a. Mrs. Dela Cruz: your homework corrections to page 551. Complete the 5 problems given yesterday about the medicine dosage for Sir Cumference. (Due tomorrow).
b. Mrs. Kaneshiro: your textbook page 430 #19-31 (all) is due tomorrow. Soccer on Monday.

a. Write and describe words are due tomorrow.

a. Board of Water Supply: bring your poster to school tomorrow. I will give you time tomorrow to paint or color your poster.

Dear Students,
Tomorrow is our field trip to Kaimuki High School for Charlie Miyashiro Day. Please wear your Hokulani t-shirt (or a blue shirt) and covered shoes. Bring home lunch and a bottle of water. You may also want to bring a jacket since the weather has been cold. For those participating in the swimming event, please wear your swimsuit underneath your clothing and bring a towel. These are your assignments for today:

I. Language Arts
a. Read 30 minutes and record pages read. Complete Literature Sharing pages 31-33 (top of page 33). You will be reading aloud to your parents this weekend.

II. Math
a. Mrs. Dela Cruz: a) Make corrections to today's homework page 551. b) Solve the 5 problems given and help Sir Cumference find out what the "secret number" is so he can take the correct dosage of medicine. (Homework due Friday)

Label on the bottle:
The Circle's Measure -- measure the middle and circle around. Divide so a number can be found. Every circle, great and small -- The number is the same for all. It's also the dose, so be clever, or a dragon he will stay . . . forever.

*Divide the length around each item by the inches across the middle. Show all work.
Problems: a. Wheel: measured 154 inches around, 49 inches across the middle of the wheel.
b. Onion Slice: measured 11 inches around, 3 1/2 inches across.
c. Basket: measured 22 inches around, 7 inches across.
d. Bowl: measured 44 inches around, 14 inches across.
e. Round Cheese: 55 inches around, 17 1/2 inches across.

Write the secret number that all the problems share.

Two more days until Charlie Miyashiro Day! Return the signed Charlie Miyashiro parent letter by tomorrow. These are your assignments for today:

I. Language Arts
a. Read 30 minutes. Begin completing pages 31-33 in your Literature Sharing folder. Completed pages 31-33 (top of page 33) will be due on Friday. You will be sharing parts of your realistic fiction book with parents over the weekend and have them complete the bottom of page 33.
b. The Kid Who Became President: study for tomorrow's test on Chapters 21-24.
c. Wordly Wise 19A & B. Write and describe words 1-7.

II. Math

Begin brainstorming ideas for your Board of Water Supply poster contest. Use the handout I gave you as a guide. You can also visit their website http://www.boardofwatersupply.com/ to see last year's winners. Just remember, the theme for this year's contest is "Water Gives Life."
Also, please go over the letter with your parents regarding the May overnighter excursion. Please return the signed letter to school.

I. Language Arts
a. Read 30 minutes and record pages read.
b. Wordly Wise 18E #1-7. Write and describe words 1-7 5x each. Test on Monday.

II. Math
a. Mrs. Dela Cruz: page 543 #1-8 (all) #9-21 (odds). Write the problem down and show all work for #9-21. Study for tomorrow's measurement test.

a. Social Studies: finish writing entire essay -- 2nd and 3rd middle paragraphs and conclusion. Essay due tomorrow. Exam on next week Tuesday.

I hope you enjoyed running around the track at today's Fun Run. You can begin collecting your Fun Run pledges based upon the laps your ran. Pledges (monies) are due by or before Friday February 27th. Also, don't forget to tell your parents how much you appreciate them when you give them your Valentine's Day card and rose. Make sure you give them a big hug too!
